LiderA is a voluntary system for supporting the search and certification of sustainability in construction, available since 2007.
The built environments are responsible for a significant investment, both for the public and private sectors, as well as for families. The challenges and available solutions, as well as the requirements, have been evolving, and it is increasingly important to adopt solutions that ensure ecological performance in balance with the social and economic dimensions.
Sustainability assessment and certification systems, such as LiderA, particularly the new version 4, play an important advisory role in (1) supporting the decision on the choice of solutions, the level of performance to be achieved, as well as in an independent way (2) highlighting and communicating this pursuit of sustainability to the market through sustainability certification.
The LiderA’20 congress focused on the theme of leading for sustainability in construction for all, aiming to cover areas, buildings, and housing units, with the possibility of adjusting different performances to different investments, including affordable housing and the development of inclusive spaces.
The congress covered the following four topics:
- More efficient and sustainable built environment;
- Nature-based solutions;
- Creating value and resilience with sustainability;
- Lisbon, European Green Capital (2020).
